Just remember on a black A/C, like the F-117 or SR-71, you don't really see "shadows", but highlights. I generally shade a tone or two lighter and possibly in the reverse pattern. You have to keep in mind things like scale effect and what YOU are trying to depict.

I always mix the base color with black until I reach a shade that matches the shadows I see on the model under a light.

What color wash would you suggest for weathering the panel lines on a dark colored aircraft(Raden/Jack)? I'm using grey/black for the underside.
