HOW DO YOU PAINT EYES IN 1\35 SCALE?!?!?!?!

Ive never done figures, but i do build cars and for small details i use toothpicks. Just a thought.

No white...Stand back from someone until they look 1/35th scale and the whites of the eyes will be flesh tone.

Just run a dark wash into the eye area, then touch up with flesh tones if needed.

While most don't..I do. People have the tendency of looking closely into the models on display and many who are not modelers will not think of the idea that at certain distances the eyes will not show clearly. People will certainly look for the eyes. Also IMO the eyes will give some emotions to the figures. But I don't use bright white but dirty white..almost grey.

But that's just me.

I use very very fine wire, dip the wire in darkened white paint dab onto the spot for the eyes, then dip the wire in black paint and carefully dot the eyes. and if you make the pupils to big they look like they have puppy dog eyes

I usually start by painting the eyes area light grey even before painting the face with flesh. It makes it easier once I start painting the face with flesh to just paint the area around the eyes. Then i use a pin tip to make the pupil with either black or dark grey. Anyway that's how I do it.

i recently read (in Osprey figure painting book) to do the colored part of the eye
as vertical lines so they are not blue or brown dots centered in pool of white.
and it makes sense when i stopped to think about it.
unless you are very surprised, your eyelids meet the colored part of your eyes and hide the white above & below it.

so that being said, i paint the whites by thinning white paint so it flows out
and put a tiny drop in the center w/ 12/0 or 20/0 brush so it flows to fill the eyeball.
then when it is dry a small vertical line from lid to lid using 20/0 brush.
while wearing magnifier, of course!

Just to be clear ,1/35 translates to what? 28-54 mm scale?

54MM is roughly 1/32 scale so 1/35th is just a little smaller

I see, well in that case, the tutorial would be useful then for 1/35 models

54mm can be exactly 1/35 scale too, it all depends on the length of the person, we all come in different shapes and sizes
