Can someone please tell me why it is important to do a Gloss coat before you apply your wash?

Hi,

it's to make a sleppery surface before receiving your wash.

The gloss coat tends to break the surface tension of the wash allowing it to flow smoother, also it is easier to clean excess off. I have had good results using acrylic base coats with a Future Floor Wax gloss coat followed by an oil based wash. The wash can be wiped down with a small amount of thinner without harming the base coat.

Some washes using thinners can harm the paint therefore the gloss coat will offer some protection.
