Hello, I am new to this forum and I need some help. I was in the process of masking my canopy for my Mig-3 when I put unnessary pressure on it , the canopy cracked in the middle [:0] Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated Smile [:)]

the only thing I know to do is call the maker of the kit and get a new one... I did that on my Shiden (George) I built recently, and called Tamiya and within 2 days it was here... I think it cost me all of 5 dollars for the entire clear sprue tree...which worked out because when I went to finish the masking I cracked the OTHER half of the canopy... but had it on the new sprue...

You could also try some Thermaform. It comes as sheets of thin, clear plastic. Mount your old canopy on the end of a pencil so you have some room beneath it. Heat the Thermaform with a candle, and when it starts to sag pull it down over the old canopy and it will make a new "Copy" of it. Trim it out and you are good to go.

I've never personally used it, but I've seen some posts by people who have and supposedly it works pretty well. It's available through Squadron at www.squadron.com

Thanks for the suggestions. I am currently waiting for a reply from Trumpeter and Stevens Interanational. I have checked other web sites and it appears that the clear sprue tree for the MiG-3, 1/32 is unavailable. While I wait for the reply I will give the thermaform a go. I checked squadron's web site and 6 sheets would cost about $6.00 and change...not bad.

I let you all know how it goes, hopefully no problems.
