Paint removal...
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, September 20, 2004 11:21 PM
Well, i did it this time. I went and took great care to do everything right and then shot it all to heck by trying to drybrush a lighter shade of my basecoat (enamel) over future. it clumped up, streaked and genarally looks nasty.
I realize I should of laid a flatcoat down THEN drybrushed. Now...How do I remove the offending failed drybrushing? Like I said before, It is an enamel color. Thank you for your assistance.

Rub a cotton bud soaked in enamel thinner on the areas where you want the drybrushed enamel removed or erased. The Future, being a water-based acrylic and assuming fully cured, will not react with the enamel thinner and will protect the paint underneath. The enamel disappears without messing up anything else. I've corrected a few of my mistakes myself using this technique. Hope this helps.

Just to update...
It worked like a wonder. Since I let the future coat cure for 3 weeks (Due to my back giving me hell, not out of patience!) it all wiped away nicely. Now I can start all over again...
