Tea bags? Interesting, in 1/72 I do the white glue thing with the high quality tissue paper that shirts and ties are wrapped in.
I can't speak to those specific aircraft. The standard seat belt for many years in US military aircraft was about three inches wide, with shoulder harnesses about two inches wide or a little less. Divide that by 1/72, 1/48 or 1/32. For example shoulder harnesses in 1/32 would be 1/16 inch wide.
The Spitfire had something called a Sutton harness, which was four equal width straps about 1 1/2 to 2 inches wide with multiple holes in them. See http://folk.uio.no/hungnes/avia/spitfire/Sutton.html
The Russians reportedly used the Sutton harness as well.
There were other variations. Pre WWII US Navy aircraft didn't have shoulder harnesses. They finally figured out that padding the gunsights wasn't an adequate substitute...
