Why not just drill it out & replace with some styrene rod or brass tubing ? Wouldn't attempt to unglue it if it were mine.

I never build planes with spinable props anyway, I always glue them down. The props on the real ones don't spin when they are parked unless the engine is running.

brass rod seems to be the best way. undoing fused plastic parts is very tricky, but not impossible. id suggest against it.

You're building a model, not a toy. You don't need a spinning prop.

actually I am fond of toys. In what position does a four bladed prop look best ? When I build 1/72 scale I almost always build them with the landing gear up so I can hang them off a shelf, the ceiling or even the Christmas tree. So I do build them as if they are flying. I guess I need to research spinner discs to see the right way to do them. Thanks for your replies.

I always position my 4 blade props in an " X " position rather than a "+" position.

Someone once told me at Hurlburt Field that you could tell which AC- and MC-130's were down for maintenance by the position of the props. Only I can't remember for sure which postion meant which. I'm thinking that those in the "+" position were still in maintenance, while those in the "x" postion were ready for flight.

Can any AC or MC crew chiefs verify this?

One thing to keep in mind about spinning verses non spinning props.

EVERY time people come over to look at models, some wise guy ALWAYS spins the props.

I agree with richter111. So many people out there do not appreciate our hobby. As he points out, many people think they are toys. I really dislike this notion. I have had many people come over to my house and just pick up one of my models and start looking at it, turning it every which way. Then, "oooooops, i broke a piece of! sorry. You have so many toys here." So, yeah, let the props spin and have a sign saying, "Do not touch if you value your life!".

I don't give too much thought to whether the props on my a/c models spin or not ... some do ... some don't ... but, I don't put up with visitors handling my "toys" ... geez that and that comment about "toys" really gets me ticked off ... (not the phrase I would normally use .. but it's ok here)
