I live in Thailand, For enamel paint (Tamiya, Humbrol) I thin by use the Ronsonal Fuel (The Fuel for Zippo lighter) easy to dry and easy to clean out (depend on the color you mixed) very cheap and the smell is not to bad.

Tamiya thinner may be a product for acrylics.
In any case, go to Ace nd you can get regular old paint thinner for the equivalent of a US dollar. I use this for enamels, cleaning brushed, as well as thinning oils. The finish is good enough to have garnered me quite a few awards.

I use the high grade Turpentine sold in Artist's Supply Stores. I don't know what you were thinning it with, but it definitely shouldn't be "Sticky".

You should be able to buy either in quarts at a home improvement store (Home Depot, Lowes etc), lumber yard or hardware store. You need to watch the linseed oil as it can sometimes turn a flat into a gloss when you don't want it to happen.
