Mix about 1 part paint and 9 parts thinner. Enamels and oil work best for this. Place small amounts of paint where you want shadows. Try not to slosh the paint all over the place expecting to wipe it off after (as thehost magazine suggests). That's a great way to ruin a finish. Just dab the pain in sharp coners, at panel line junctions, at the base of rivets. Let cappilary action do its magic. You can put large amounts of wash into grills, however, to increase the implication of depth.

Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

sounds like you've done all the right reading. My advice to you is make sure every thing is totaly dry. I made that mistake once and ruined what was turning out to be a great looking model. Don't get discouraged and have a lot of fun

pingtang is pointing you in the right direction, but if its available in your corner of the kingdom try using future instead of clear gloss before puttign the decals on, it works a little better. for a complete doodad on future, check out http://www.swannysmodels.com/TheCompleteFuture.html

If you can find PollyScale acrylics, you'll find they spray much better than Tamiya. Next in line would be Model Master acryl, which also gives you the advantage of accurate color matching.

Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

Sounds pretty good to me, I'd only suggest adding a gloss coat between the camo colours and decalling, it'll help the decals go on better (this is only if your camo colors aren't gloss already). Apart from that, it looks like you are on the right track.

Painting and weathering advice

I've been reading about painting and weathering on this forum ( and a few others) and have discovered that there are a lot of different methods and materials To accomplish this aim.
I 've never used acrylics before and this will be my first attempt and doing washes so this is my method for finishing my kit.

Prime surfaces using Vallejo Grey primer,
spray base colour and add camo using Tamiya acrylics,
add decals,
Lightly gloss using Vallejo gloss varnish,
add washes and pigments using highly thinned acrylic oil paint and mig powders,
and finish off with a matte finish using vallejo matte varnish (with a little bit of vallejo matte medium added) to fix everything.

If any body can see any flaws/errors in this method,i would be grateful for any advice offered.
