I stopped by Office Max today and asked if they would do color laser printing on decal paper. They are willing to give it a try --- @ $.90 a sheet. They routinely do laser labels. So, decal paper shouldn't be a problem. They recommend bringing in a diskette with the decals in Word format. IMHO that's almost too good to pass up.

Less than a dollar a sheet.
not bad.

I had good luck with the Testors decal fixing spray when I tried it. I applied my homemade deacls with some Micro Set, but not Micro Sol.

Jridge:
I've had great results with SuperCal "Last Step" spray, made by a company called MicroFormat. Here's the link:

I use Solvaset exclusively, and the only trouble I've ever had with color bleed is when I cut too close to a color section---given the qualities of inkjet ink, it's best to leave a little clear around yellows and reds, particularly. (I use their decal paper too, but the last batch I ordered had Micro-Mark's imprint on the back, so I guess it's the same.) I have no affiliation to the company, I just like their stuff. I tried a bunch of others and never got the same good results.

I'm trying to make some custom decals using my Espon Stylus Color 600 printer. The problem I am having is the spray sealer doesn't protect the decals from setting solution. I've tried multiuple coats of Kylon Acrylic and a clear lacquer. Micro Sol and especially Solvaset eat through both and and make the ink run. The clear lacquer is much more resistant than the acrylic sealer.

Someone else on the forum recommended pasting the decals into a Word document, copying the document onto a diskette and taking it to someplace that has a color laser printer, like Kinko's. This will require purchasing laser decal paper however. I'm about ready to give this a try.

I have the inkjet decal paper from MicroMark and was getting ready to print my decals. I noticed it said I need to seal the decal with their sealer. Since their sealer is just Krylon Acrylic transperant spray I imagine I can use Future etc. The question is... are they talking about before or after they are on the model?

I guess my confusion is because I always seal a decal after I apply it so what is the differance .

Can you still use the MicroMark decal set solutions on the decal (regardless of when you put the sealer on).

My guess is that you put a sealer on after you apply it, but I want to be sure.

Thanks
John

Before

print your decals then set them aside DON"T TOUCH
let them dry for several hours.
Then seal them to the paper with the spray acrylic sealer and let dry.
then apply as normal and use future to seal to the kit after application.
You need to seal the ink to the paper or the decal will run all over when you try and apply it.
