Tips and Tricks - Save your styrofoam (large pics)
Posted by stinger on Tuesday, December 21, 2004 11:21 AM
Just thought I'd pass on a few uses for that styrofoam that we will all be (hopefully?) seeing plenty of this Christmas.

This is handy for protecting the undercarriage while applying those last few details,
or, upside down for installing the U/C.

You can see how I fasten the styro together with toothpics.

This is great for applying decals or parts to the fuselage sides.

If you do this, I would suggest fastening the styro to your workbench,
perhaps with hotglue or fastened to a larger (more stable) sheet of styro.

I do this in between painting and decaling stages.

Cut the Q-tips at an angle so that they will pierce the styro.
I place them so that they will go up into the wheel wells.

Happy modeling Smile [:)]

I use the green flower foam for the same purpose, also works well as
an easy stand for painting stick mounted parts.

Thanks Tweety. The upper side lookes even better. One of these days I'll have to finish it. It's been in this state for about six months! LOL.

You can also use foam to make jigs for keeping bi-plane wings square during assembly. Very handy material to keep around.

Thanks for that Rick. I'll put that one in my notes as I plan to build a Sopwith Camel this next year.
