Thank you both for your help. I tried the micro-mask and ended up after removing it to do touch up with a fine point brush. I think I'll try the bare metal foil trick on my next canopy.

Cheers

i've tried using liquid masking products before and don't much care for them , for masking canopies anyways. i use bare metal foil (original chrome),its super thin so you get very little paint build up along the edge and its extremely malleable , which really lets the canopy framing show through when you go to trim it .

Are you masking it on or off the model??? If off the plane just paint on about 2-3 coats and let dry, then with a light touch and an 11 blade you scribe along the canopy framework, when you are done pick at one edged of the canopy fram with the eleven blade until you raise up the Mask and slowly peel of the canopy frame mask leaving the remaining mask on the canopy panels, then paint the model as usual. When you are done and the paint has dried and the model is finished use masking tape to pull off the mask on the canopy going slow. you use the same technique if the canopy or clear parts are on the plane but if you blend your clear parts in like me you have to be careful not to pull off the medium used for blending.

Looking for tip on using micro mask?

Hello All,

I have a 1/72 canopy that I am working on for my A5M2a Claude and I would like to try using the microscale micro mask product, because I do not think I can use masking tape on such a small canopy. Can anyone supply me with tips on how best to use this stuff.

Thanks and cheers
Thom
