I use sludge washes frequently on my armor builds and yes, there are times when repeated applications and removal are needed to get the look that I want. To me, this is nothing but an extreme benefit. Over many years, I've learned that patience is not only a virtue, but a necessity in model building.

Greetings,

I just finished a Tamiya Corsair and had the same problem with the gear doors. I was using a q-tip to clean the excess sludge off and really had to play with it to work well. Given the shallow depression, I don't think there is much you can do except work with it.

Sludge washes in gentle depressions?

Applied an acrylic sludge wash to the landing gear doors of my Tamiya Corsair last night. There are some crescent shaped depressions on them with angled sides. I had a heck of a time getting it to look right, too much would come off in some areas and not enough in others. Eventually got it to look good, but it involved alot of putting the wash on and wiping it back off. Panel lines or anything that meets at a right angle are usually no problem. I swore off oil washes because I could NEVER get them to work. Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.
