Help a "Nublet" in despair.

Hello friends.
Simple question to the seasoned modelers out there.
Some pieces of this Dragon kit are as small and thin as a standard office staple. How should i acually grip this in order to file/sand it down?
All techniques will behelpfull, from start to finish.

Thanks
All help would be great.
I have still yet to cut it from the spure, or around it anyway, i dont want to damage this little piece.

When I have a piece like that. I cut the thicker legs of the sprue away from the main tree. Sand as much as I can while it is Still attached to the bigger legs of the sprue. then cut the piece from the thicker sprue legs very carefully. Hold it with a pair of tweezers as close to the point as possible that needs to be sanded. Using the arms of the tweezers to support the rest of the piece as possible. Lay the sanding stick or paper on the workbench and rub the piece over the the paper/stick gently until I am satisfied.

Be careful though if the piece gets hung up on the sanding surface it could fly out of the tweezers and into the carpet realm.

Hope my babbling made sense and helps you out.

sometimes, your fingers may be better than tweezers because you get more tactile feedback, but thats only in certain cases. also, try scraping with a very sharp #10 blade instead of sanding. again, its situational, sometimes you may want to handle things one way, other times you may want to use a different method

If the part is a grab handle or similar, I find it easier to make a new one from thin wire, drill out the fixing points and attach with CA glue. It is also much stronger to tie things to later on in the build.
