HELP - de-bonding CA glue, resin-to-styrene
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, January 23, 2005 7:08 AM
I have installed a Black Box cockpit into my F-14D for a group build, and have now found that the cockpit is sitting crooked, by that I mean rotated to the right a few degrees. You may notice from this pic...

I used CA glue, 3M tube gel, bought at Wal-Mart. How can I safely de-bond the parts? I understand that acetone, readily available as nail polish remover, will do the trick, but I am concerned about the acetone damaging the styrene plastic.

Can anyone help me??

Have you tried CA debonder? they sell it wherever they sell CA usually.

A lot depends on how much CA you used & where you applied it. Acetone can eat styrene so I'd be real careful with that. CA debonder is your best hope.

Problem solved - "borrowed" some nail polish remover from the missus. Done!
