I like to paint mine by hand, but if I have to mask, I try to use Bare Metal Foil. I've used 3m blue painters tape and Tamiya masking tape to good effect also. Basically it comes down to personal preference. Check out Swanny's site, he's got many many examples of masking there that should help you out quite a bit.

As maddafinga said, what works best for you is a matter of personal taste.

Besides Bare Metal Foil and Tamiya Tape, some people (not me) get excellent results with Parafilm.

Personally, I prefer precut masks if one is available for the canopy I'm masking. I find them easier and quicker than the other methods, although the obvious drawback is the cost involved.

Hope this helps,

Mark
