Try a soft silver artist's pencil on edges, rivets etc, it makes a world of difference!

I have used a sharp #2 pencil to define the edges of bogie and road wheels of armour. It gives a suggestion of an edge without a sharp definiton.
Apply lightly, walk away for a little while, then come back and look. Apply more if necessary.
This is done last, after decals, weathering, dull coat, etc.
