                        This Future with isopropyl alcohol. Mix 3 parts Future to 1 part alcohol.

                        And on your silver paint issue try using Alclad lacquers in stead of enamel silver. You can mask over Alclad and never worry about paint lifting, at least if you use a lacquer primer first.

                        Spraying with Future sounds like good prevention too. My only use of Future so far has been to dip canopies. When spraying it, do you thin and if so, with that?

                        Might be worth sealing the silver finish you already have with Future and then using a low tack tape. Tamiya tape still lifted Humbrol silver on my F15 but gave an interesting affect as these areas had been preshaded with black (that's my excuse for leaving it anyway!)

                        I leave the metallics for last... they're typically so opaque that they coat everything (including black).

                        I suggest you quit using silver paint and use only Model masters Stainless Steel buffing or non buffing Metalizer's...Their German Silver Metallic is good too..It dries and don't stay sticky and transfer on to other models or anything that touches it months or years later..."

                        Tamiya tape is low tack, or perhaps 3M blue painter's tape would be less aggressive than electrician's tape

                        Howdy,

                        Am wroking on Acadamy's 1/72 F86F Sabre. Ok, basic assembly done and surface prepared Smile [:)] . Go to the garage and spray Model Master silver, fun Big Smile [:D] !

                        Hmm, silver really reveals surface preparation flaws... Disapprove [V], but that's what decals are made to cover, right?! Wink [;)] At least the ones in the right spots...

                        Now, mask with black electrical tape to paint those gun port panels, which are a slighly different color than silver. Ooooh, nice mixing of paint there buddy, if I do say so myself, looking good. Cool [8D].

                        Ok, after drying, remove the electrical tape, and... the shiny surface is removed too! Angry [:(!] Now where the tape was it is a flat finish!

                        What is a good masking for a silver finish, or otherwise way to avoid this? ( I touched it up with a brush, but not as good as air brush of course...).
