making water and marshes
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, July 9, 2005 10:45 AM
Hey guys,

I have the Maquette WWII T-40 Russian Amphibious Light Tank in 1/35 scale. I got it on sale from Squadron for $4.99 last month, and I want to do a diorama with it. I want to have it creeping through a boggy marsh with some tall straw grass. My question is, how do I do the water? I have NEVER done anything with modeling water before! What is the best brand to use? How do I make the ripples/waves? And if you have any tips or comments, they are more than welcome! Any websites/links on modeling water will also work. Thank you for your support!

Perry-Woodland Scenics makes a product called "Realistic Water" and is water-based. Ha! It can be tinted with acrylics but dries slowly and it's best to slowly build up the depth. I have never tried any splashes with it as it is too slow drying
