weights for radome
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, August 3, 2005 3:00 PM
Would anyone know where I could get 21 grams of weight preferably some that is easily moldable. I am building a Hawker Hunter 1:32 and apparently it will sit on its tail unless I put exactly 21 grams of weight in the nose before I assemble it.

21 grams is approximately 3/4 ounce. Use a couple of half-ounce lead fishing sinkers, or if you want to be exact (3) 1/4 ounce fishing sinkers.

Since it's 1/32 scale they should fit OK. Just stuff them in there and smear some 2-part epoxy over them to stick them to the radome.

Lead is very soft. If you need to form it a little, it isn't hard. You can flatten them into foil with a hammer on a concrete floor.

In the fishing tackle aisle or sporting goods store look for the small round weights that crimp on the fishing line, split shots I think they are called. Sometimes it’s easier to fit them n an odd place that 1 big chuck-o-lead.

If you have not gotten that far yet, you can glue a few in the nose of the fuselage just forward of the nose gear if you need the space.
