Wash Questions
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, July 20, 2003 11:35 AM
I was wondering, when applying a wash you must wiipe of excess with the appropriate thinner, correct? Well, if your model is painted with enamels, wouldn't it make sense to use acrylic paint and thinner in your wash? This way when you remove excess wash, it wont rub off your perfect camoflage you worked on for hours.

Thanks,
Kev

Kev,
That is the right idea, but it has worked better for me to use acrylics for the base coat, seal with future, then use oil enamels to wash with. The thinner hasn't bothered the acrylic finish yet, when I tried the acrylic wash, it seemed to dry too fast and I damaged the undercoat trying to remove it.
