                        Try using foam ear plugs for masking small holes like turret hatches.

                        I use a similar trick. The makeup department has applicator sponges, they are easy to cut to the size and shape you need.

                        i have found Play-dough is easy to use, and when you are finished painting it lifts right off with now adhesive left...and is reusable. Easy to mold to the shape you want
