Tires/Road wheels
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, December 21, 2005 3:09 AM

Ive been having problems when I have been painting black on tires and road wheels for tanks. I always seem to have a bit of pain go onto the hub and it takes forever to keep doing touch ups, can anyone help me to find a better way?

I use the circle template method..

Get a circle template from a craft store.. you can get em with about 20 or 30 different size circles on them..

I airbrush the black on the tires/roadwheels first..

after that dries. find the circle on the template that matchs the hub size.. mask off the other ones around it.. hold over the hub and airbrush straight through the circle to spay the hub color..

works great..

Rob;

I find that a method mentioned in an earlier article or tip section of FSM works for me. I use a SHARPIE black marker to colour the road wheel rubber and then dry-brush the rubber with a slight gray or tan. It is easy to do and I can mount all the roadwheels and paint the base colour without worrying about getting it on the "rubber" sections.

Cheers;

Gregory

Rob;

They can't seem to get this black mark off the wall!!! No matter how hard I scrub with the tip of the Sharpie the spot just gets bigger. It's very frustrating Clown [:o)]

Silly Gregory, you're using the wrong sharpie. Try a silver one, it gets rid of black spots easily. Of course it leaves a silver one, but that's life. Tongue [:P]

So long folks!
