Temporary part gluing
Posted by Bones-coa on Monday, July 28, 2003 3:30 PM
A very long time ago, it seems like I read somewhere that there was a way to attach parts such as wheel well doors on aircraft and canopys in such a way to allow you to paint the model. When done, the parts could then be popped off to detail as required. I'm getting back into modeling after many years so I'm a bit rusty on the subject. Anyone shed some light on any of these techniques? Thanks.

I use white glue (Elmers) to tack on parts. Just apply in the corners for gear doors, speedbrakes, etc and for the canopy I put the glue on the rear and forward corners. After painting, just pry off and remove the glue with a Q-tip moistened with soapy water and a tooth pick.

I sometimes use "liquid" mask to temporarely glue/place things on my models. I think its great because you can remove the parts with ease and it peels right off.
