Resin Bending
Posted by csutton on Tuesday, August 5, 2003 6:43 PM
Okay, I'm trying to bend a resin hose. I tried heating it in hot, boiling, water. It didn't work. Every time I tried to even bend it, it snapped. I was using very slight pressure too. I used excessively hot and luke warm water. I need help! Sad [:(]

First things first csutton .... I see this is your first post here so welcome to FSM.

Do you have a blow dryer ? It's worked in the past for me and some warped resin parts. Heat the part up, bend it a little bit, repeat until it's where you want it.

Hope this helps.

Yep, tried the hair dryer next. I in fact tried the very exact idea you gave. I ended up making hoses with different sized solder wrapped around one another. This seemed to work. The resin was very brittle and after fitting one of my home-made hoses, I don't think I would ever have been able to get the tight shape needed. Thanks, for the input and the welcomed welcome!
