Trouble with photo etch zimmerit
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, August 10, 2003 12:42 PM
I need to put some holes in some photo etch zimmerit on a Tiger I so I can later attach parts thru the zimmerit and into the holes. I am having trouble doing this without damaging the zimmerit. Do I need a special tool that I am unaware of that would make this easier? Do you remove the plastic pins on the part and glue directly to the zimmerit? MartyM2828

Marty, I have no experience with PE Zimmerit, but the problems you are mentionning are the main reason why I stick to either engraving directly into the plastic (smaller scales) or Milliput... I'm not certain the PE brings that much more 'realism' that 'traditional' methods and after all, you'll still need putty in some areas and at the joints between the various PE plates...

As for drilling holes, that's what I would just do, drill them with a mini-drill.
