Future uses
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, February 4, 2003 7:39 PM
I have heard alot about using future as a buffer between coats of paint and as a sealer or protectant. How much do you use and how do you apply it? Are there any other uses for Future? someone please help. I am just coming back to the hobby.

A lot of the folks have written some good stuff about uses for future. Go to the bar above. Next to FAQ is a search function. Put in "Future" and you'll get a bunch of posts on the subject. Everything from attaching clear plastic parts to creating a flat finish. It will be easier than everyone retyping all those posts Smile [:)] Welcome back to the hobby!

I agree with dave. You can also try going to rec.models.scale and take a look at their FAQ. There is an extensive section on Future that will likely answer most of your questions.

Future is probably my most use product next to CA glue.

I use Future for:

Glossing up the surface for decaling and as a barrier for solvent type wasshes

Stubburn decals can be applied over wet Future then coated over with it to seal the decal in place

Brushing multiple coats of Future from the center of the decal out gets rid of thick film edge know as a 'Step'

Canopies dipped in Future look clearer and hides small scratches

Can be used to attach clear and small pe parts

Can be mixed with certain flat acrylic paints to get desired sheen

A drop on instrument faces will look like glass

Can be used as a pigment fixer for modeling wet mud
