Die cast prep and painting...
Posted by klem on Saturday, August 30, 2003 10:47 PM
I posted this in the auto section and nothing yet...I stripped down and sandblasted an 1/18 Honda Civic.I shaved the mouldings, door handles and rain gutters. I was planning on priming it with Boyd Red #52909 and then laying multiple light coats of Testors Red metallic for deep rich shade of red. What do you think?

I would shoot a coat of white primer first. Sound like it's gonna look killer.

I agree with Claymore68, about the white primer. I've found that the darker the primer is the darker the overall finish is. Also remember that most metalics are usually transparent so you may also want to undercoat with either gold or silver after priming depending on the flake in the paint.
