dremel use for sanding purposes?
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, October 29, 2003 9:07 PM
I've heard of using a dremel to ease the sanding process. I'm planning on getting one for that purpose (although I have no clue of which ones to look into) but I gather that it must have a setting light enough not to damage the actual model itself. Also, where could I purchase sanding paper (or the tips) for the dremel specifically for sanding applications in this type of hobby? thank you for all the help Smile [:)]

Most major department (Wally World, K-Mart, Target etc.)stores carries Dremel bits. If you're near a Costco or a Sam's club they have a huge assortment of bits for around $20. I've got a Craftsman rotary tool with variable speed (a must have for any rotary tool) and have never had any problems with it. No matter what the speed settings are on the one you end up with, it's more about the amount of pressure that you apply with the tool that will determine that outcome of your work.

The best thing about working with plastic is that your tools last a very long time.

Unless of course you're using plastic tools.Tongue [:P]

grinders also come in many shapes even cones which is a must for working in corners. Polishing paste is also provided for a smooth as glass finish, unles you buy coarse grinders in this case you will have huge scars on the kit. guess you dont want that.
