Washes: How "watery" is to watery?
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, October 30, 2003 6:08 AM
Ok Folks,
I tried a wash lastnight on a 1/72 KubelWagen last night....err actually very early this morning. I think it may have been to watery I know these "washes" are supposed to run everywhere but can you have a wash that is to watery?

I got some of the desired effect...should I try it again? Do another coat of the watery wash?
Thanks

Chris,
I normally use a small container, like the lid of a 35 mm film cassette. I add a couple drops of paint, and probably somewhere in the neighborhood of 20-30 drops of thinner--maybe a little more. I never really measure; these are just approximations. You'll need to stir often to keep the pigment in suspension. Experiment some to find the right mix that works well for you.

thats the point it should be thinner with a few drops of color. Paint with thinner is well..paint..lol, try not to take too much fluid on the brush or else it will maddly flow all over.

There's a good post about washes posted by Domi, but I can't find it at the moment. Maybe someone remembers it.
