White Lettered Tires

Does anyone out there have any suggestions for the best way to paint the "white" onto the lettering on rubber tires? You know, like the Good Year lettering.

I've used this method...works great can also use the same thing with YELLOW lettering such as Nascar kit tires...another thing I have done is actually sanded off the raised lettering and applied dry transfers in its place. Decals/Dry transfers are readily available for Goodyear brand...however some other brands may not be available!

Thanks for tip guys. I'm just getting back into model building after a few years of slacking off. Have been busy collecting Hot Wheels instead. Boy, I sure do enjoy this site and forum. Great job FSM!!!!

occasionally you get the letters already engraved on the rubber/tyre so all you have to do is paint it!!!!

In my car-building days, I just painted the white on the raised letters with a small brush. It's not really hard at all!Smile [:)]

Use acrylic or other water based paint. They don't react with the vinyl or rubber in kit tires. Also, spray a coat of clear flat laquer to seal any tire painting or decaling and to give a realistic sheen to the tire.

The best way to use enamel paint on tires is to blow chalk dust on them after they are painted, this way the paint won't smear or smudge.
that which doesn't make us irate or irritated, has probably been thrown against the wall.
