                        If they haven't been opened, the shelf life is quite long, even if you had 'em six years... Once opened it's a crap-shoot...

                        Obviously that would be a total failure, but I am not knowledgeable enough to know if there are other ways for paint to become unusable beyond completely drying out. I guess I should have been more specific in my original question.

                        You have to understand, I haven't touched any non-digital brushes or paints since junior high...when I say I'm a n00b, I mean it to the full extent of the moniker.

                        The paints are probably 6+ years old. I bought some models and paints when a local shop was going out of business with the intention of getting to them "soon." It's only three or four jars, so I'm not overly concerned about it, I just wanted to know if it's even worth trying to use them.

                        Hi sebastian!

                        To answer your first question, The unopened stuff should be good. How many years are we talking, though? You'll probably need to stir it up real good, and shake it like crazy. I put BB's in my paints, acts like the rattler in a spray can!

                        As for airbrushing techniques and reviews, this is a grea place to start. Many guys are practically experts in the airbrush field here. I asked questions about an airbrush before Christmas and got so many answers my head spun!

                        Hi all,

                        First post, glad to be getting back into this. I do CGI and photography and after years of not having touched models I really want to get back into it. I do have a few painting-related questions though.

                        First, does unopened thinner ad paint go bad? I have some Model Master stuff I bought YEARS ago that's never been opened.

                        Second, is there a reliable site for airbrushing techniques and reviews? I have read great things about the Badger 100-LG and it'll probably be what I pick up, but having a single, focused place to go where I can read up on this stuff would be a huge help.
