MM Acrylic/Tamiya Tape/Residue-Help Please

Hi! I have used regular gasoline with greate sucsess on enamels. Should be OK with acrylics, but I recomend to test first.

GASOLINE!?!?!?  Yeah, I would certainly recommend that you try it on some scrap first.  I tried it on a car once when I was a kid and had nothing but a puddle of goo left.  I would NOT recommend that you use gasoline because it will dissolve styrene.

Best thing I can think of is GooGone.  It will remove the adhesive residue but might wreck the paint to.  I've never had it mess up paint but that isn't to say that it won't.

I bet you are right, gasoline is agressive stuff. I guess the ammount I use evaporates before it can attack styrene/paint. That goo goone stuff, What is it and where to find it? Would feel better not pouring gasoline on my models

Scott-Thanks.  I had some GooGone, tested it on my 'paint mule' (an old orange juice plastic jug that has been primed and used for airbrush testing/practice) and no ill effects on the acrylic.  Used it on the model, rinsed with distilled H2O and all seems to be well.

When I tried it I didn't concern myself with the amount!  I poured some gasoline in a bucket and threw the car body in with it.  When I came back a few hours later there was nothing but styrene goo in the bucket.

GooGone is available at just about any variety store around here.  Everything from Walgreens to Walmart carries it.  I've tried it on many surfaces and never had any problems, but I always check in an out-of-the-way place to be  sure.

oh! that sounds unnice   Something similar happened when I tried acetone as a ''decal setting solution''. It snuggled down wery wery well I must say. lol!

I live in Europe so I guess I'll try the local companies y thanks for the directions
