Gloss/Flat Coat Question
Posted by mbuk on Sunday, September 7, 2008 6:52 PM

I'm currently building a Fine Molds x-wing fighter kit which is being painted with Tamiya acrylics (airbrushed).

I'm looking for some advice about what to use for gloss and flat coats.

I've been recommended Testors spray cans for this, will this be any good to use??

Also, is thi stuff ok to use on clear canopies?

Any help will be much appreciated.

No it will graze the clear plastic, so you should mask it off. I use Modelmasters clear flat laquers.

If you're going to use any spray can clear coat over a Tamiya acrylic base, start off with a few very light mist coats, allowing to dry in between coats. If you go too heavy, too fast, it may attack the underlying paint.

I've actually just discovered that Testors products are no longer available in the UK where I live!

Can anyone recommend something similar that works well?
