Readily available material for practice shots?
Posted by MonsterZero on Saturday, September 13, 2008 6:13 PM
I'm tryinig to figure out what kind of material (readily available and cheap) I could use to test airbrush spray patterns before actually aiming at the model. I'm fighting a desperate battle with rough/grainy finishes. I thought if I had a supply of little bits of plexiglass or something like that it would be best. The need is for a very smooth surface...What can I use?

Old gallon milk jugs work very well and are cheap.

Yup, milk jugs.  I cut mine into small squares.

Sign - Ditto [#ditto] Old milk jugs, plastic orange juice jugs are nice-especially the Tropicana brand with embossed letters-good practice painting the letters or outlining them.

One piece of advice-put a coat of primer on the jug-I use Krylon-the cheap stuff and save the Tamiya for the models.
