Re-assembling my Iwata
Posted by RichardI on Sunday, September 21, 2008 9:55 AM
Hi all: I have two Iwata airbrushes - an HP-BCS and an HP-C Plus. I have not used either for about 18 months so I have managed to disassemble the BP-BCS for a thorough cleaning and needle lube before using them again (they were a gift). I used the instructions found on the Iwata-Medea website to disassemble, and I can use the same instructions (in reverse of course) to re-assemble, but here's my question. With this airbrush - or any airbrush I guess - how do I know how far the needle should be inserted? You know, there's that little cone shaped piece, and I have no idea whether the needle should "stick out" through that, be completely hidden by it, or what? How do I know when or if, the airbrush is properly re-assembled?

Thanks,
Rich

I also have 2 Iwatas (great airbrushes) just push the needle in slowly to it stops. It should stick out the cone a little bit.

I found this web page at AirBrush City to be very helpful. It is for an AirBrush City AB, but 100% applicable to the Iwata. I have an Iwata HP-CS.

9. VERY carefully insert the needle into the airbrush body. When inserting, turn the needle slowly while carefully pushing forward until needle is seated into the nozzle.

10. Once the needle is set, lightly snug the "Needle Set/Stop Screw" to lock the needle in place.

Awesome guys! I managed to find a link on the Iwata website to a full explanation for the HP-BCS. Thanks for the link to Airbush City from keilau - it is just the ticket for the HP-C Plus.

I must say, I find it odd that this kind of documentation does not accompany the new airbrush.

Thanks both
