Air Brush Depot Compressors
Posted by Maximus DukusErectus on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 12:55 AM
I have looked at so many compressors, then would read these forums on the downfalls of most of them that I had picked out.I am the noob that is gonna give a new Aztek Airbrush a whirl and I picked the TC-700(AB DEPOT BRAND)which comes with a tank and protective case.I don't know if the case will help with the noise level or actually protect it,but it will be easier to store when not in use.I had looked at all of the entry level IWATAS and the only one I liked was the POWER JET PRO ..but my wife would have killed me for dropping that much coin so I settled for a noname compressor for $200.00 plus shipping.Has anyone heard of this particular model?I saw a few that really liked the TC-20T.ThAnx

For just $60 more, you can get the kit with an Iwata HP-CS airbrush and the TC-20T compressor.

The TC-700 would be a nice compressor to have. It looks like their TC-196 twin piston compressor in a protective case. But the investment on the airbrush brings much bigger reward. Compared to an Aztec A470, I found the Iwata so much easier to clean and so much more precision control of the airbrushing.

I would expect the TC-700 to be a good value for the money. You should be very happy with a twin piston, tanked compressor. I have a similar Paasche DA-400 compressor and added a airtank to it. I am very happy with mine.

There are two sources for this type of airbrush compressors. Sparmax is in Taiwan and Haosheng is in China.

Based on the rating of the horsepower, I suspect the TC-700 is made in China. It is the Haosheng 196 with a casing. The Chinese manufacturer usually rated their motor twice as powerful as the same product from other regions, but are not necessary any better.

Sparmax products have earned a good quality reputation and durability over time. The Chinese products sold by TCP seem to be quite good too based on feedback on their TC-20T compressor. Time will tell.

Since you have your trusty Badger 150 for a long time, you know how a good airbrush should work. If you are not happy with the Aztec, you may want to get the new Badger Renegade Velocity or the Iwata.  Have you read the posts on "Aztec....that bad?" here a little while ago? I used to have an Aztec A470. The worst part of it is the fact that Testors does not want you to clean it by taking it apart. It voids your warranty.

When you receive your compressor, come back and write a review of your TC-700 compressor for the rest of us.
