WEM Paints
Posted by RTimmer on Saturday, October 18, 2008 3:01 PM

Hello All,

I have not used these paints before, and I have a couple of questions before taking the plunge.  I have generally heard and read very good comments regarding the accuracy of the colors for naval subjects.

My questions:

1.  If not mistaken, I believe these are enamels.  I generally use acrylics and brush paint (yes, I brush paint ships), so my question is how do these paints brush paint? airbrush?

2.  What do you thin these paints with?  How much thin is needed for brush painting? airbrush?

Thanks, Rick

I tried them for the first time on the Dragon USS Buchanan a few months ago.

You have to thin with lacquer thinner very well, but any leftovers can't be returned to the tin as a layer of semi-dry paint will form, so only mix what you need and store elsewhere the leftovers or discard.  I did a small amount of brush painting and they benefit from the same thinning as above.  Other than that, coverage was fine.  Good luck
