Thank you for you help Phil-H

I think i'd better start getting used to using spray cans, it will probably save me from a few headaches.

As I say a little help is sometimes all it takes to avoid major mistake, thanks again.

The Liquid Surface Primer in the 40ml jars is a lacquer based product. You need either Tamiya's lacquer thinner (less aggressive to  styrene) or "generic" hardware store lacquer thinner (can turn your model into a puddle of slime if you're not careful). Tamiya acrylic thinner (X-20A) will not work with this product.

LSP can be cleaned up with denatured (ethyl) alcohol, but I haven't tried using it as a thinner.

Thank you very much for your help Richard,

sometimes a little help is what it takes to avoid a major mistake.

I´m buying supplies from Great Models Webstore, and they sell Tamiya Liquid Surface Primer in 40ml bottles. I´m not too confortable with spray cans.

Thanks for the help

erdna, your English is fine.

Yes, you will need to thin Tamiya clear gloss if it's in a little bottle. I use the stuff so I know - for either airbrushing, or hand brushing it must be thinned. I have never seen Tamiya primer in anything other than a rattle spray can so I can't comment on that, BUT if it's in a little bottle (like the paint is) it will likely need thinning. And I recommend using Tamiya's thinner X20A, not alcohol. I've never had any luck with alcohol as a thinner in Tamiya acrylics. Welcome back to the hobby!

Hi everybody,

I´ve just recently returned to the hobby and I would like to know

if it is necessary to thin Tamyia´s Clear Gloss and their primer?

And if they can be thined with with alcohol (91%)?

I know they´re kinda stupid questions but i would like to know,

I dont want to ruin my first model in 7 years.

Thanks for the help and pardon my poor english
