What kind of retarder for Model Master Acryl?
Posted by dmk on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 7:57 AM

I was having difficulty with Model Master Acrylics drying on the tip a few weeks ago. A few days ago, I tested some laquer (Alclad) through my brush and it sprayed beautifully. So after searching a bit, I'm going to try a little retarder with my Acrylic to see if it helps.

What kind of retarder would be best for Testors Model Master Acryl?

I don't have a local hobby shop or artists store, so whatever I get will have to be online.

Use Liquitex brand slo-dri. You can get it at any art store or Hobby Lobby

Unfortunately, I don't have a Hobby Lobby near me.

My local Walmart had something called "Acrylic Floating Medium" has anybody tried that, or know if it would work?

it seems to have a different purpose, from the google results I get.

best bet is to order the liquitex brand.  It will last a long time.

Yea, I thought so. Someone told be it would work, but that doesn't make sense to me.

I'll try to find someone selling the Liquitex.

BTW, last evening, I put too much - probably about 4-5 drops worth in a half bottle's worth of paint. even with alcohol thinner, I could watch it "seperate". so...be careful when squeezing the bottle Big Smile [:D]  the paint still worked ok though.
