need airbrush advice!
Posted by gmcookvt on Friday, October 24, 2008 8:27 AM

so my airbrush has recently been giving me problems. It's a double action brush and when I push down for air the button stays down and sticks. When I release to stop air it stays down and the air continues to flow. I thought maybe some paint has dried inside and is causing it to stick. I put some thinners in there to wash it out but it's still doing it.

Any ideas?

Hey Greg....Sounds like the brush has some dried paint inside. I use a Paasche double action brush and clean it after every use with pipe cleaners.

If paint got into the air valve plunger you may have to disassemble that part of it and give it a good cleaning. if it still sticks after that, it's probably the valve washer.

Good luck !

Yea, I think it may be dried paint that got around the valve button. I'll do a full disassembly tonight. Thanks for the help!

Something similar happened with my Badger.  I disassembled it, and there wasn't any paint or anything else to explain the sticky valve, so I lubricated the valve with a bit of needle lubricant and the problem was solved.
