Look at the German WWII era photos on this site. Keep in mind the way that color film of that could change the hues and shades of colors. And don't forget to ignore the later computer colorized photos here and hand tinted ones of that era. Both types will stand out from original period color photos. But you will notice that Field Gray could vary quite a bit.

Google some search terms including the words; German Reprodutction Uniforms World War 2 .

Reproduction uniforms are great for reference.
