Air Brush Find - Deal or No Deal?
Posted by Firecaptain on Monday, November 17, 2008 7:07 AM

Anyone know if this is a decent airbrush and a deal?

Thayer and Chandler airbrush, double action, Pasche single cylinder compressor.$75 for both.

And a Pasche twin cylinder compressor for powering 2 airbrushes - $70

I get red x's.  What model T&C airbrush is it?

I would say you got your moneys worth with just the compressors! Those can get pretty pricey, especially the twin.

These are name brand merchandises and the prices seem reasonable. But I will suggest a careful comparison with modern products at similar prices. Due to improved material and precision machining not available 10 years ago, today's compressor and airbrush are better and cheaper at the same time.

I wonder how it compares with the Paasche DA400R?

It is prudent to check for wear when buying a used oilless compressor.

I still use the same Paasche H3 and Paasche compressor I have had since I was in High School.

That was only 30 years agoShock [:O]

The Paasche H is a real classic and my first AB dated back to the 80's. It was my only airbrush until last year. It is a external mix, single action AB. Both are good beginner AB for occasional uses. If you airbrush a lot, invest in an internal mix brush.

After many years with the H, I finally change to an Iwata HP-CS. I never want to look back. Yes, the Iwata costs 3 times more than the H now. The smooth and precise control, the ease of cleaning are worth every penny. It just makes airbrushing a more enjoyable experience.

The Paasche H was NOT inexpensive 30 years ago. I paid more for it than I paid for the Iwata HP-CS when adjusted for today's money.

I Love my Paasche H and for Christmas the family is getting me the Iwata HP-CS.  Including you, I have heard nothing but great things.
