Primer and paint for the Trumpeter Seawolf
Posted by thespaniard180 on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 9:51 PM
I have a Trumpeter Seawolf (1/144) that I would like to run in the water under radio control. I would like to use primer, simple flat black paint, and some flat clear coat.

I plan on using all Testors products, in their spray cans. The primer will be Flat Gray Spray Enamel (1237). The colored paint will be Flat Black Enamel (1249). The clear coat will be Dullcote Enamel (1260).

I should be ok using these right? Testors Dullcote should be able to handle water? I've done some research on radio controlled submarine forums, but there is no centralized, outlined area for advice, as many submarines are built from fiberglass, resin, and other non styrene materials. I just want to know if my planned materials will work. If anyone has any suggestions of other things I could use, I'm open to them. However, I don't have an airbrush and any suggestions must be available from your average, large online hobby store.

Thank you for your help.

Any Enamel should work fine, on my R/C boats I painted the Hull's with everyday Krylon Paint. Bigger Spray Cans and softer on the Wallet. Thumbs Up [tup]

Ok, thanks.

Thanks to this website, I'm now looking into an airbrush.

What a great hobby! :)
