Great stuff!  Does it take other paints over top of it well? YES  What does it (Talon) thin with? Doesn't need thinning but you can if needed with water or a few drops of rubbing alcohol.

Do you have to polish it to get that effect? YES see note below.

Chris, man of many questions!

I'll let the man speak about the first two questions but the third is answered in his last post. Read the writing on the painted wing.

That's a neat pic, Gerald. I really wish the differences could be seen better in that photo.

While Hawkeye's NMF acryls look fantastic, IMHO they don't look like chrome. Not dissing the paint mind you but it looks more like polished metal with a blue tint to it.

Don't tell that to the car guys...they've been using my products for years with great results. Chrome has variations too. The photographs don't really show how chrome like the finish is. NMF are hard to photograph, especially those highly polished...they pickup on the surrounding environment.**

I think he sells the old SnJ stuff too.

Not only do I sell it...I manufacture it! Wink [;)]

** Like here in this shot...you see a redness...the t-shirt I was wearing.

All NMF paint products have their own nuances...variety is a nice thing to have.

While Hawkeye's NMF acryls look fantastic, IMHO they don't look like chrome. Not dissing the paint mind you but it looks more like polished metal with a blue tint to it. Chrome is more like a mirror, having no color of it's own but reflecting the light around it. The only paint I've seen aproach the look of real chrome is Alclad II Chrome. It looks the part but is very labor intensive.

If what you are looking for is actually a polished metal look you can't go wrong with the Hawkeye Hobby's stuff. I think he sells the old SnJ stuff too.

Yup, I did it.

Nice!  What brand of paint are you using for that?  What "other brand" are you refering too?  Sorry to be dense!

How chromy to you want?

Yeah, It's an acrylic NMF too!

Your other options are those automotive lacquers in a spray can which you can decant by spraying into the cap then pouring into your airbrush cup. Or...that other brand of paint which someone will no doubt recommend.Whistling [:-^]

Chrome paint help neded

I am looking for a good way to spray chrome onto a model which..well....actually looks like chrome!  Someone suggested to me chrome spray paint from an autobody shop.  I would like to decant this, and shoot it throuh an airbrush.  Has anyone tried this?

Are there any other good products or techniques you know of which will produce the nice mirrored look of chrome?

Thanks!

Chris
