Thanks Triarius, I guess that was exactly what I was getting at. I want to re-fill the bottles that came in my Testors enamel paint sets.

Yes and no.

Most enamel paint thinners are mostly mineral spirits, which is close to being a universal solvent for enamel paints. The enamel thinners sold under hobby paint brand names are mostly pure mineral spirits, although some may contain other cosolvents. However, "paint thinner" sold as such in hardware, paint, and similar stores may contain other solvents or "impurities" that can play havoc with hobby paints.

If you want to be economical and buy your solvent in larger quantities, saving your money to spend on kits and paint, buy "Odorless Mineral Spirits" as your primary enamel thinner.

Ross Martinek A little strangeness, now and then, is a good thing… Wink

Perhaps a dumb question:

Is Paint Thinner (like the stuff that comes in the little Testors bottle with the enamel kits) the same thing as Mineral Spirits?
