Thinning oil paint

 I use mineral spirits. Like most things in our hobby, I'm sure folks do it a few different ways.

 For a wash, Turpentine may cause problems with the underlying layers. Normally you'd do an oli wash over an acrylic base coat, or seal your enamel base coat with a clear acrylic (like Future) before doing an oil wash.Turpentine might eat the acrylic layer.

Thank you DMK!  I sort of figured it was mineral spirits but I wasn't 100% sure.  I've always read the articles where people use oils but, since I had never used artist oils before, I never really paid attention to that little detail.
