Real basic airbrush question
Posted by forsigmar on Sunday, February 8, 2009 3:54 PM

When using an airbrush on a part that is more than one color and has a surface that is not easily masked what do you do?  Do you just airbrush the color close and finish up the fine details with a brush?  A good example is a engine that is black and a transmission that is aluminum, the spot where they come together is impossible to mask. Thanks in advance!

well, if its for like 1/35 or 1/24 and whatnot, you should just handbrush the different colors.  I dont use my AB for anything except large areas

Get some Silly~Putty , paint you lighter color first IE the transmission. Dont worry about overspray on the block. After the paint has cured, take the silly~putty and mold it around the Trans to mask it and paint away with your next color.
