PAINT WON'T TAKE TO SPOT ON HULL
Posted by namvet66 on Saturday, February 21, 2009 9:57 AM
Good morning folks,

A problem I am having is that I am painting the hull of the Titantic and I have one spot about one inch by one inch that will not take the paint.

I am painting the hull the suggested color on the box "Flat Red".

I have stripped what little paint that did adhere to he surface after 4 coats, also I used sand paper to rough the surface, but still not taking paint as it should.

Any ideas from you folks on what I should do from this point forward to complete my painting of the hull?

BTW, I am brush painting, if that make any difference.

Thanking you in advance

Did you wash the hull before painting?

Sometimes kits have a mold release agent, like a very thin oil, which will stop paint adhering.

Try washing the spot with some dish washing liquid.

Wiping the area with rubbing alcohol before painting will also help the paint adhere.

Just don't touch it with your fingers afterwards as skin oils will ruin what you cleaned.
