The Smart Jet has a pressure switch wired in for the on/off feature. Bypass the switch and plug it in to see if it works. If so, replace the switch. Do not attempt if you are electrically stupid! It's been so long since I had mine apart I forget if it is circut breaker protected or not but while you are in there look for a breaker. It may have failed or have a loose wire.

Yeah, I tried that also....took it off the surge protector and plugged right into the wall.  Then tried several different outlets in the house.  The Smart Jet doesn't want to fire up at all.

Is it still plugged into the surge suppressor?  If so, check the surge suppressor.  The fuze might have blown on that.  Just plug the compressor straight into the outlet.

HELP! Compressor died..what happened?

Hey guys, I tried a search before posting this but didn't find anything useful.

My Iwata Smart Jet compressor just...died?Confused [%-)]  Its about 1 1/2 yrs old, always stored and used inside, used on only 4-5 models, has plenty of ventilation, plugged into a surge protector, always worked beautifully.  I hadn't used it for a couple of months.  I turned it on today to dust off a model that I wanted to paint....used it for 5 minutes with no problems....turned it off....10 minutes later I turned it back on to start painting and ....nothing.  I turned it on and off several times...nothing.  I plugged it into several different outlets that I know work...still nothing.  There are no fuses on it that I can find and only the one on/off switch.

What could have happened?

Here's a photo:

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
